Don Falconer founded Falconer Engineering and Testing in 2008 to provide Fire Protection Engineering Services and best apply his 45 years of experience in fire-protection, fire-testing and building construction.

 

Don's career began in 1978 at Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada (ULC) where he gained expertise in testing and certifying construction materials - most notably full-scale fire testing of building constructions. At ULC he was also involved in the fire safety standards and building codes development process.

Don spent the next 18-1/2 years as Technical Manager with A/D Fire Protection Systems, a leading manufacturer of spray-applied fire-resistive materials, intumescent fire-resistive coatings for structural steel and firestop systems. Don managed R&D, testing and certification, and the company's technical/marketing support activities.

Don continues to be a voluntary member of the ULC Committee on Fire Tests, which is responsible for development and maintenance of fire test standards in Canada. That, coupled with participation in other standards writing and industry organizations keeps Don up-to-date to best serve his clients, and to give back out of genuine concern for life safety.
